A water media workshop in Ireland sponsored by The Picture House

April 19 – May 3, 2022
We are excited to announce our next Painting Workshop in Ireland! This Spring we will explore the beauty and art of West Cork. We will be based in the seaside town of Baltimore. There is so much to paint and see around this Southwestern part of Ireland. We will visit local artist studios, small galleries and the large Crawford Art Gallery in Cork City.
Accommodations

Baltimore Self Catering Cottage and Harbour View Apartments
We have rented a small house and 4 apartments in the seaside town of Baltimore. The house has 4 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen. The apartments each have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and sitting room/kitchen. The 4 apartments are in one building and share a large enclosed yard.
The house and apartments are a short walk from each other and from the center of town. The town of Baltimore has restaurants, pubs, a small grocery store, gallery and a harbor – with ferries to a few small islands.

The restaurants and pubs of Baltimore share a lot of outdoor seating, right across from the harbor! Images from our 2014 trip – we took a day trip to Baltimore from our base in Glengarriff.
Transportation
We will have a luxury minibus and driver for the two weeks. The bus will be comfy, with usb chargers and leather seats.
The bus will pick us up at the Dublin airport. We will have long day trips planned, and more flexible shorter trips. Our accommodation is walking distance to the center of town, as well as the harbor, with ferries to take those interested to the islands off the coast of Baltimore.
Day Trips

We will have day trips planned with the minibus. These will include the following:
- Bantry & Glengarriff – Bantry House and gardens
- Cork City – enjoy the parks and galleries of this bustling city
- Clonakilty – explore the hometown of Irish hero Michael Collins
- Beara Peninsula
- Mizen Peninsula
- Donkey Sanctuary, Liscarroll
- Kinsale
- Skibbereen (weekly farmer’s market)

We will study art history, focusing on a collection of inspiring Irish women.
